Do I have to buy boxes as well?

No. Materials are in the price — boxes, tape, paper, bubble wrap, wardrobe cartons. If we run short on the day we bring more and you are not charged for them.

Usually the day before, so moving morning starts with a van and a door and nothing left to do. For a small flat we will sometimes pack and move the same day — we will say which when we quote it.

Can I pack some of it myself?

Plenty of people do the wardrobes and the books themselves and hand us the kitchen, which is the bit everyone hates. Tell us what you want doing and we price that, not the whole house.

Do you unpack at the other end?

We put boxes in the right rooms and take the empties away afterwards. Unpacking cupboard by cupboard is not something we do well or could charge honestly for, so we do not offer it.

Is there anything you will not pack?

Anything flammable, perishable or irreplaceable — paint, gas bottles, the food in the freezer, documents and jewellery. Those travel with you.

Boxes, tape and paper included

We'll pack it, so moving week is one job instead of ten evenings

From £250 for a 1-bed, materials in the price. The crew who pack it are the crew who move it, which is the whole point — nothing gets lost in the handover because there isn't one.

How it actually goes

We come the day before, usually late morning, and work room by room.
Every box is labelled with the room it is going into, not the room it came out of.
Plates travel on edge, not stacked flat. Lamps lose their shades. Drawers stay full where they can.
Anything you want to keep with you, say so and we leave it alone.
Moving morning the van is loaded and you are out — nothing left but the meter readings.

You probably don't need it for a studio

If it is a studio and you have a fortnight, pack it yourself and put the £250 towards the move. Our packing guide is the same method we use and it is free. Packing earns its money on a three- or four-bed with a full kitchen and a week's notice — which is most of the people who ask us for it.

Packing is available anywhere we move — Durham, Newcastle, Sunderland, Teesside and the rest of the North East. Every other figure we charge is on the prices page.
