We take 10% off the price of a move for people in a handful of jobs and situations. Nurses and paramedics. Serving forces and veterans. Foster carers, care homes, teachers and teaching assistants, unpaid carers, and registered charities moving their own premises.

It is not a voucher, a launch offer or a code that expires at the end of a month. It sits there permanently. But it is claimed on the phone rather than through the website, and there is a reason for that, which is the least interesting part of this page and the part people ask about most.

Who gets it

The list is deliberately short enough to fit in your head, and we would rather say yes to a borderline case than argue about it on the phone.

  • NHS and emergency services. Anyone with an NHS badge. Police, fire and ambulance, including control room and support staff, not only front-line roles.
  • Armed forces and veterans. Serving personnel, reservists, and anyone who has served. Forces families moving on a posting count as well.
  • Care homes and foster carers. Residents moving in or out of a care home, supported-living moves, and foster placements. Often the organisation is paying rather than the person moving, and that is fine.
  • Teachers and teaching assistants. Anyone employed by a school, including caretakers and office staff.
  • Unpaid carers. If you look after a family member and it is not a job you get paid for, that counts.
  • Registered charities. Moving your office, your shop or your storage. Bring the charity number.

We are based in Durham and most of this work is North East, but the discount is not postcode-limited. If you are an NHS nurse moving from Newcastle to Bristol, it still comes off.

What counts as proof

Something with your name on it that ties you to the job. We are not running background checks and we are not asking for payslips.

  • A work ID badge. A photo of it is fine.
  • An email from your work address.
  • A veteran's ID card, a service record, or an MOD 90.
  • A letter or email from the local authority for foster carers, or from the home for a care move.
  • A charity registration number we can look up on the Charity Commission register.
  • For unpaid carers, a Carer's Allowance letter, or just tell us the situation.

That last one is not an oversight. Plenty of people doing the most caring in this country have no paperwork that says so, and building a proof requirement they cannot meet would defeat the point of the discount.

How to claim it

Ring 0191 743 2754 and say which group you are in. We will price the job the same way we price any job, then take 10% off before you pay anything. Send the proof to 07575 566760 on WhatsApp, or by email, before the move is confirmed.

You cannot claim it through the online booking form. There is no box to tick. If you have already booked online and you are eligible, ring us and we will adjust it and refund the difference on the deposit.

Why it is not a checkbox on the website. A tick box would mean either taking everyone's word for it, or building an upload-your-ID step into a booking flow that is meant to take two minutes. Neither is worth it for the number of people involved. A phone call sorts it in about forty seconds.

What it comes off, and what it does not stack with

It comes off the same price you would have been quoted without it. There is no separate rate card for community customers and nothing is padded first. You can check the price you should be starting from: what removals cost in the North East lists our tariff in full, and the discount comes off that.

One thing does stack with it. If you have signed up to our mailing list you already have 5% off, and the community discount sits on top of that rather than replacing it.

Seasonal codes do not stack. SUMMER26 is 5% and online-only, so if you are eligible for the community discount you are better off with that anyway, and we will not let you accidentally take the worse of the two.

It applies to the removal itself, to packing and to a second address. It does not come off a third party's bill. If a piano specialist or a Gas Safe engineer is booked in on your behalf, we pass their invoice through at cost, and taking 10% off somebody else's work is not ours to do.

Why these jobs and not others

The straight answer is that these are the people who move under conditions the rest of us do not.

A ward nurse on a rotating rota cannot pick the Tuesday that would have saved her a hundred quid. She moves on the day the rota lets her, which is disproportionately a Friday, and Friday is the most expensive day in this trade for reasons that have nothing to do with her. Forces postings come with a date somebody else chose. A foster placement moves to a deadline set by a social worker, sometimes inside a week, and nobody involved gets to negotiate it.

Those constraints all cost money at the point of booking. Short notice narrows what is available, and the awkward slot is the expensive slot. Where you do get notice, the eight-week moving checklist is the order we would work in. Ten per cent does not level that out. It is not meant to. It takes a bit off a bill that was inflated by a rota rather than by anything the customer chose.

Care home and supported-living moves get it for a different reason. They are usually small and usually urgent. The person moving is rarely the person organising it. They are also the jobs where a crew turning up late or short-handed causes real distress rather than inconvenience, so they get our full crew and a fixed time rather than a window.

Questions people ask

Do I need to prove it before you will quote me?

No. We will quote you with the 10% already off. Proof comes before the move is confirmed, not before we give you a price.

I have already booked online. Can I still get it?

Yes. Ring 0191 743 2754, tell us which group you are in, and we will adjust the price and refund the difference against your deposit.

Does it stack with the mailing list discount?

Yes, that is the one thing it stacks with. The mailing list 5% plus the community 10% both apply. Seasonal codes like SUMMER26 do not stack, and that one is online-only besides, but as it is only 5% you are better off on the community discount anyway.

I am a retired nurse. Do I still count?

Yes. Same for retired police, fire and ambulance staff, and for veterans. If you did the job, the discount applies.

I am an unpaid carer but I do not claim Carer's Allowance. Is there anything else I can show?

No paperwork needed. Tell us the situation on the phone and we will apply it. We would rather occasionally get that wrong than make people prove they look after someone.

Is there a minimum spend or a cap on the discount?

No minimum and no cap. It is 10% of the quoted price whether that is a two-hour man and van or a five-bed move with a second van.

Can my employer book on my behalf?

Yes, and for care homes and charities that is usually how it works. The invoice can go to the organisation and the proof can come from them.

Ready to get moving?

Fixed price in two minutes. Date locked in three. Kettle packed last, obviously.
